It’s getting bad over at the Mariah Carey camp. A journalist heard that Epic Records isn’t too happy with Mariah. On top of the New Year party flub, it turns out that they can barely get in touch with her to figure out what’s going on with new songs, and that’s including the CEO of the company, L.A. Reid.
Her way of sending them a finished song (the song “I Don’t”) was to just send it. She didn’t give them a call or email, no heads-up at all, she just sent them a finished song and said “just release it.” In addition to all that, her last song, called “Infinity,” apparently struck-out anyway, and didn’t become very popular, just the same as “I Don’t.”
It’s also rumored that within the record label, they’re not discussing making another album with Mariah. The Journalist, Roger Friedman, who has known Mariah for a long time, says that even Mariah says that she isn’t doing an album. She’s just releasing a series of singles.
Some speculation is that Mariah’s manager, Stella Bulochnikov, is actually keeping her from talking directly to people who make things happen. Even Roger says he can’t get ahold of her, and they’ve known each other for years. Mariah exclaimed “I’ve known Roger since I was in diapers” when Stella told him to contact Mariah’s publicist rather than her directly. Roger hears from some sources that L.A. Reid, CEO of Epic, is looking to drop her record deal.
We’ll see where this goes from here, the music industry is actually pretty good at surprising us with things.
